The Practice Pass unlocks the paid features of the tools on this site. Today: it removes the limit on the printable documents produced by the free tools (without the pass: 3 free to start, then one a week) — chord voicings, scales, arpeggios, harmonic analysis, the standards library and the chord chart in JamShed; it unlocks the progressions of the triad pair finder and the progressions and interval patterns of the pentatonics finder (both finders are free); and in JamShed, the backing-track app, it unlocks export to MIDI, MP3 and WAV, React Trio (the trio listens through the microphone and follows your playing; the audio is analysed on your device and never sent anywhere; the first 3 sessions are free), saving your own progressions, the analysis, the pentatonics and the triad pairs over the chords, the tempo trainer and 12 keys; and in EarShed, the ear trainer, and TimeShed, the time trainer, it unlocks the daily 8-minute programs (the free practice, the metronome and the timing analysis stay free, and so does day 1 of each program); and in EasyLoop, the voice-controlled looper, it unlocks voice control and the MP3 download (recording, layers and trimming with the buttons stay free). Installing JamShed is free. Tools and features added to the pass later are included for pass holders at no extra cost; which tools join the pass is decided by this site. The pass does not include any of the books.
The other tools are free and stay free, with or without a pass. Searching them is unlimited for everybody, pressing Ctrl+P prints the page for everybody, and the backing tracks play, loop and share for everybody. Tracks saved in the backing tracks before saving joined the pass (5 October 2026) stay where they are and keep opening.
Two plans, the same pass. Yearly: USD 24 a year, a subscription that renews automatically every year until you cancel it. Lifetime: USD 65, a single payment, with no subscription and no renewal. Every pass bought before 20 October 2026 (at USD 24 or less) is a lifetime pass. The sale is made through Gumroad, which is the seller of record: Gumroad takes the payment, issues the receipt, and handles whatever sales tax or VAT applies where you are. Their terms govern the transaction itself.
Immediate. Gumroad shows your licence key as soon as the payment goes through and emails you a copy. To use it: press I have a key in the Practice Pass section of the home page — or in any window that offers the pass — and paste it in.
One key activates up to five devices — a phone, a laptop, a tablet on the music stand. The key is for your own use and is not for resale or for sharing publicly. Once five activations are used, a sixth will be refused; if you genuinely ran out because you changed machines, write and it will be sorted.
Fourteen days, no reason needed. Write to the address below or request it through Gumroad and the money goes back. Digital goods delivered instantly are often sold without any right of return at all; that is not how this is sold.
A refunded key stops working. The site re-checks keys against Gumroad periodically, so a pass on a refunded purchase is withdrawn when that check next runs. Nothing you already printed is affected.
Lifetime (and every pass bought before 20 October 2026): the key does not expire. There is no renewal date and no way for it to lapse on its own, for as long as the pass exists (see the note below).
Yearly: the pass lasts while the subscription is paid. You can cancel any time from the Gumroad receipt or your Gumroad library; nothing more is charged, and the pass stays active until the end of the year already paid. If a renewal payment fails, the pass pauses until it goes through. The site re-checks yearly keys against Gumroad every week.
Free trial: the yearly plan starts with a free trial of 7 days. Nothing is charged until day 8; cancel the subscription on Gumroad before then and nothing is charged at all. During the trial the key unlocks the whole pass; if the trial ends cancelled, the pass ends with it.
Said plainly, because the word “lifetime” deserves it: “lifetime” means the lifetime of the Practice Pass — for as long as this site and its tools are online — not the lifetime of the buyer. No website can promise to exist forever, and this one is run by one person. What is promised: a lifetime key will not be time-limited and will not be turned into a subscription later. If the site or the tools were ever to close, buyers would be told by email at least 60 days in advance, rather than finding out by clicking; yearly subscriptions would be cancelled so that nothing more is charged; and everything you have already printed or downloaded stays yours.
Write to niels@nielsdalgaard.com with the key and what happened. A key that will not activate is a bug on this side until proven otherwise, and it gets fixed or refunded.
